We started off optimistic as we aimed to create a fully completed PC first person shooter game using Unity 3D. We were able to create the sky using a sky - box and then we had to add in some objects and obstacles which needed to be downloaded in first. Since our game was a first person shooter game we needed a character to be our base of the game but in Unity there was only one main character and his profile didn't seem to be a very convincing shooter/soldier as he was an engineer. So we then had to research a bit more on how to get a good character for a FPS game. Soon we found a website where we could get a more convincing looking character and some scripts that will help us control him. We then decided to use this site for our game therefore we downloaded the character and we placed the camera in a third person position so that we would be able to see if the character moves smoothly and realistically.we then began to get the scripts done. After that we decided to test the character but it wouldn't allow us to because there were a few errors in the script, so we fixed it according to what we thought that it would be. We were then able to play and soon fixed his movement. We then placed the camera in a position that will allow us to play the game in a FPS perspective. After doing the same for some other scripts we got stuck as we were not able to fix the mistakes found. So we then decided to delete the character and all the scripts. We then used the engineer and decided to make a random game. After that we added some cool effects to the ground and then when we tried to play the game the engineer would not be movable. This forced us to abandon the project as we had run out of time.
This is something like what our project looked like during the process. We could not take pictures of our work while going through the process as the print screen button would not work.

your idea looks really good and you should continue to make it look better. the layout of the game seems really interesting and i would really like to play it should you complete the game
ReplyDeleteYour blog is very impressive and I liked the overall structure as it is organized chronologically. You have completed all aspects of the coursework and I think that you gave great detail for the evaluation. In the investigation, you have mentioned descriptions, processes and images however you must include advantages and disadvantages. Also, you must add the AOI of your project which in human ingenuity. The design of your blog is very simple and black and white, so try to include more color. I can’t see the plan on your blog, so maybe include a Gantt chart with dates. Finally your evaluation is detailed and mentions your opinions and views. You have a 21 out of 25.
